Week 8

Swimming has started and the children are thoroughly enjoying lessons. Thank you for all parents and caregivers who are helping out.

In Literacy we will be reflecting on our goals and our thoughts on the term. We will be using the thinking tool ‘I used to think, now I know’ to help with these tasks.

In Mathematics we will be working on revision. We will be looking closely at areas that need to covered and personalise learning within our own classrooms.

In Inquiry we will be exploring the lives of saints and sharing our learning with the rest of the school.

We will be performing in assembly on Monday 21st so would love to have you come and support us.

We are currently preparing for our class Mass at 9:00 on the Sunday 27th November. We would love to see you all there.

WEEK 5

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

In Literacy , the 1/2 students will be delving deeper into poetry exploring the vocabulary and craft. Focus will be on adjectives and adverbs to create imagery and detail.

In Mathematics, we will continue to focus on multiplication and division through differentiated focus groups and within our classroom setting.

In Inquiry and Religious Education, we will be reflecting on how other children are educated around the world. Examining the resources and settings and the fairness of these. We will continue to invite Year 5/6 students to share with us their knowledge of the Saints they have been investigating. Discussion on how these Saints lived the word of God will also continue.

We continue to assist our Year Two students with their transition into Middle School through classroom arrangements.

Welcome to Week 3.

In Literacy we will continue to consolidate reading and writing skills including spelling, grammar and punctuation. We will be reading information reports and writing our own on people we admire.

In Mathematics we will continue learning about 2D and 3D shapes including exploring nets, constructing shapes, symmetry and flipping, sliding and turning. We will also be consolidating number work by counting forwards and backwards by 2s, 3s, 5s and 10s from different starting points.

In Inquiry/RE we will continue discussing all of the wonderful and positive qualities we have and comparing these to those of God. We will be exploring the world of saints and parables, including the story of Zacchaeus.

WEEK 9

Hello Parents ,

Welcome to Week 9 , firstly we would like to thank you for all your work in getting the children ready for our excursion and the Art Expo. A special thank you to the parents who supported us at the excursion your assistance was greatly appreciated.

In Literacy we will continue working on similes, verbs and adverbs to assist in writing narratives and snapshots. We will continue to consolidate spelling, grammar and punctuation skills and work with the children in small focus groups to extend their understanding of books they are reading.

In Mathematics we will continue exploring fractions and continuing with consolidation of number work. The children will be working in groups according to their point of need.

In Religion we will continue to explore different parables from the Bible focusing on our theme of love hurt and forgiveness. The children enjoyed discussing and viewing this video at school last week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cG_WLYUN_Hw

In Inquiry we will be reflecting on our wonderful excursion to The Gould League and Wetlands. We will discuss new learning and link it to what we have already found out on our Inquiry journey. We will also be deciding on ways we can take action within the school and community in order to look after our precious natural resources.

WEEK 8
On Tuesday 30th we are heading to the Gould League and Glen Iris Wetlands. This will give the children the opportunity to further their learning about sustainability and the environment. Thank you to all those parents who are helping out. We are looking forward to a great day out.

In Religious Education we are learning to understand what loving, caring and forgiveness are. We are learning to use words to describe our feelings in role play. By exploring these concepts we will come to realise how important they are to our relationships with family and friends.

We have our wonderful Art Expo on next week. On Wednesday you are invited to visit classrooms to view art pieces then on Friday we will all be heading to Dorothy Laver Reserve to take part in various activities to test our creativity. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

WEEK 6

Hello Parents and Carers

This week we will continue to explore and investigate
Out sustainability unit the children will be looking at different sources of power and how they affect the environment.

For mathematics we will be continuing our mathematics groups exploring money , please remember to provide opportunities for your children to manipulate and work with money.

In literacy we will work towards consolidating our skills in persuasive writing.

We will also be busy getting ready for book week and our Art Show.
